From the Mailbag

BSG recently got an e-mail from Dee Adames saying that she no longer works for Peter of London and is busy getting her own salon - D and L Hair Studio -  ready for opening!  It's very exciting news and we hope that Dee will share information about the opening with us on a future date.

In other hair news, here's an LA Times article about Shear Genius season one judge Sally Hirschberger.

5280's daily blog Elevated Voices gives a nod to Charlie Price.

And the Rocky Mountain News claims that Price distinguished himself as the (rhymes with witch) contestant who often picked on other competitors, just because. No, really?

BSG Interview with Nicole Obert

Nicole Obert may only be 24, but she was the second runner-up and thisclose to becoming Shear Genius this season. She's passionate about her craft and something tells me that we'll be seeing more of her in the future.

BSG: Do you think you would have made it to the final three if you hadn't gotten immunity in that last short cut challenge?

NO: That is something we will never know, nor is it something i think about. I dont like to think about what might have been, and remain thankful for what was.

BSG Interview With Charlie Price

Charlie Price was the first runner-up on this season of Shear Genius. He's a lot of fun to talk with, mostly because he doesn't mince words. Here are a few he's shared with us.

BSG: You won 4 elimination challenges and 2 short cut challenges. Did you think you had the finale challenge in the bag?

CP: i had a feeling that there might be "charlie fatigue" by the finale- no matter what i did it might not be enough lol- i was very proud of what i did- the other two obviously didn't even finish their models- during the judging all of the things that were said about my work are the things i strive for-technical, shiny ,luxurious etc-and just for the record- i fulfilled the challenge plus did 2 updos- plus did double process colors on all four clients- that achievement speaks for itself in my book.

BSG: How hard was it to keep quiet about the results for so many months since filming the finale?

CP: it was very hard- such an important and exciting experience is hard to lock away-i also am not good at secrets

Tabatha's Salon Takeover

Did you catch last week's episode of Tabatha's Salon Takeover? De Cielo owner Michael didn't seem cooperative at first, then warmed up for the salon's grand re-opening; weeks later didn't appear to have drunk the whole glass of Kool-Aid. He was lucky to have a staff of excellent stylists. Who can tell what the future holds for all of them?

Here's the preview for next week's episode:

Fan Favorite

Congratulations to Daniel Lewis for winning the Shear Genius Fan Favorite award! It must have been your Southern charm and sense of humor that won you so many fans among the viewers.

We hope, like last season's Fan Favorite, Tabatha, we hear from you again...maybe see you on the small screen once more!

BSG Interview with Dee Adames

Dee Adames is the big winner of this season's Shear Genius, and deservedly so. She took time from planning her own salon to answer some questions from BSG.

BSG: First of all, congratulations Dee! How does it feel to be the big winner?

DA: It feels Amazing! It's a dream come true!

BSG: You were so consistent all season and it seemed that you should have won more challenges than you did. Was it frustrating when you didn't?

DA: Of course it was frustrating..... it started to become the Charlie show! But at the end of the day the last win is the one that counts!

Shear Genius + Project Runway = Fun!

Don't think that the finale viewing party was all the cross-reality-show fun we had last week! Laura K and I paid a visit to Project Runway season 2 designer Emmett McCarthy's Nolita boutique EMc2 on Thursday. While we were chatting, in walks Gail Soifer with Glenn Mitchell and her hubby Nick! The ladies posed with for pics with Emmett, wearing a couple of his designs.

I haven't seen what they've bought yet, but Laura K and I each bought a pair of shoes. (I was eyeballing one of those great purses too - hey, girls will be girls!)

We Have a Winner!

Thanks to all of you who participated in our contest, and to those of you who helped pick our winner!

Drumroll please...

...congratulations, Roz! You are our winner! Your story was short and sweet, evocative enough to earn you a whopping 43% of the vote.
Please send your address to us at bloggingsheargenius@gmail.com and we'll send your fabulous Shear Genius prize right to you!

"It was the 1960s and all the girlfriends of the Beatles along with Twiggy and all the models in all the magazines had straight hair. My cousin, Evelyn, to whom I looked up and envied, had thick STRAIGHT hair. I had very thick, very curly, very frizzy hair. I went to a hair salon for the OPPOSITE treatment: to get my hair straightened. In those days hair straightening solution contained depilatory.
"Need I say more?"
